IN THE CAR, ON THE BEACH, KEEP YOUR VALUABLES OUT OF REACH
The most commonly reported crime in Manly is stealing. This is mostly opportunistic theft, usually occurring in public places like carparks, supermarkets, food outlets, parks, beaches, transport stops and in the street. It pays to be aware of your valuables particularly your wallets, mobile phones and cameras. It is also important not to leave any valuables in your car and always lock the car.
Stealing is most prevalent at the beach. Manly Police Command advises, "It's a simple crime to commit - offenders simply watch people go for a swim and grab their gear from under their towel. We strongly advise visitors to the beach avoid leaving any valuables unattended."
