Ordinary Meetings
At Ordinary meetings, issues of public importance or concern are debated and decisions are made.
The Mayor chairs Ordinary meetings and Council's General Manager also attends to supervise the recording of Council discussions and decisions, and to give explanations and information to the Council.
Senior staff - such as Council’s Divisional Manager Corporate Planning & Strategy Division and Manager Environmental Services - also attend to answer questions and explain reports.
Planning and Strategy Committee (PSC)
considers and resolves matters related to:
- forward planning - Local Environmental studies
- statutory planning - Local Environmental Plans
- special planning projects
- urban design guidelines
- special design projects
- specification of services
- commissioning and contracting of work
- monitoring of construction works
- monitoring of the annual works programme
- traffic management - works implementation
- community services and recreation matters such as:
- children's services
- aged persons' facilities
- young persons' facilities
- sport facilities
- community halls and facilities
- community advice and development
- early childhood centres
- beach management
- immunisation clinics
- waste management and recycling
- public place cleansing
- road safety
- flood plain and estuary management
- asset management.

Extraordinary Meetings
Special meetings - called Extraordinary Meetings - may be called by the Mayor, or at the request of three or more Councillors.
