Manly Council is committed to ensuring diners have the highest possible standard of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene at all food service businesses within the Manly local government area. In support of this commitment, Council has launched the Manly Food Safety Awareness Program.
This innovative program aims to increase awareness of the importance of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene within food service businesses, as food poisoning remains one of the highest non-communicable and preventable illnesses prevalent in the Western world today.
The Manly Food Safety Awareness Program provides support and information to maintain or improve high standards of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene and is comprised of the elements listed below.

The Starfish Ratings program is designed to recognise, reinforce and reward food service businesses who implement the fundamentals of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene awareness.
Each business will be inspected and assessed annually by Council’s professional Environmental Health Officers and will receive a rating from 1 to 5 Starfish.
