What's involved?

The Sea Change for Sustainable Tourism program is offered free to businesses in Manly.

The program consists of five stages:

  • Stage 1 involves attendance at a preliminary workshop and completion of a business checklist.
  • Stage 2 entails carrying out a short business self-audit.
  • Stage 3 involves attendance at a second workshop and development and implementation of an environmental management plan (EMP).
  • Stages 4 and 5 involve completing goals set out in the EMP.

Businesses that participate in the program are eligible for endorsement under the program’s 5-star accreditation scheme. The accreditation scheme provides acknowledgement for engagement and achievement by promoting a positive business image to consumers and the local community. Program participants gain 1 star for each stage of the program they complete satisfactorily. Full accreditation is equivalent to 5 stars.

Triple bottom line approach – the 10 categories

  3. Solid Waste
  4. Energy Efficiency
  5. Air and Noise Pollution
  6. Biodiversity Conservation
  7. Economics
