Special Purpose Committees

Council is committed to encouraging social cohesion and the development of community identity through community participation, and provides an extensive range of initiatives and events in which the community is invited to participate. Council manages a range of Special Purpose and Joint Committees which provide an opportunity for community members to become involved in many varied issues and initiatives as community representatives.

Council’s Special Purpose Committees and Working Groups were reviewed following the September 2008 election and there are now sixteen Advisory Committees and the Meals on Wheels Committee, which is a S355 Committee, and three Working Groups as well as a number of external committees on which Councillors represent the Council.
