Traffic Committee

The Traffic Committee is an external committee auspiced by the Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA). The operations and membership of the Traffic Committee are guided by state legislations. The Committee is primarily a technical review committee. It advises local council on traffic control matters that have been referred to the local council. These matters must be related to prescribed traffic control devices or traffic control facilities for which council has delegated authority.

Council in consultation with the formal membership of the Committee may receive advice from additional people including Road Safety Officer, NSW Minister of Transport Representative, NSW Fire Brigade Representative, NSW Ambulance Representative, Transport Workers Union Representative and Chamber of Commerce Representative. These representatives do not have voting rights and can only provide advice to the Committee on items nominated by the Chair/Committee.

NOTE: There is no Council Terms of Reference for this Committee. Membership of this Committee comprises of:

  • 2 Councillors
  • Manly Council Representatives
  • NSW Police Force Representative
  • Road Traffic Authority Representative
  • The local State Member for Manly (or their nominee)
  • State Transit Authority Representative
