Manly Corso to North Head
A steep start up Darley Road, Manly takes you past the neo-gothic tourism and hotel management college.
Alternatively you can continue on North Head Scenic Drive until reaching the panoramic view of the ocean, harbour and city from North Head.
- The ride up Darley Road from Manly is a little demanding, but it is well worth the effort.
- Near the top of the hill on the left is the imposing neo-Gothic building, originally St Patrick’s Seminary but now a tourism and hotel management college.
- Proceed through the archway on the Scenic Drive into the Sydney Harbour National Park.
- The fit rider may choose a steep side trip down Collins Beach Rd on the right, to the waterfall.
- Alternatively, stay on the Scenic Drive; on the left is the old Artillery School with a network of walking trails - further along on the right is the heritage listed Quarantine Station - tours must be prebooked, phone (02) 9247 5033.
- Next on the left is North Fort Artillery Museum displaying guns used over the past 200 years – tours are offered of the subterranean network of tunnels - there is a cafe and barbeque area with magnificent harbour views.
- Last stop is North Head, circled by the Fairfax Walking Track (walk your bike) through coastal headland to lookouts with panoramic views of the ocean, harbour, and the city; there are no toilet facilities at North Head.
