Led by artist and co-creator of BIG Kids Magazine Lilly Blue, families are invited to Manly Art Gallery & Museum to participate in the creation of an interactive community installation called ‘HUMAN - a collection of individual self-portraits stretching across a giant page’. Experience the art of collaboration in what will be an engaging process and amazing outcome. Supported by Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society.

Teen School Holiday Photography Workshop

Be inspired to see the world differently and be introduced to the art and craft of photography. Young people aged 10 – 14 years will look at the elements of composition and design, light, viewpoints and much more.  Shoot together and print out your best photos to take home. Presented by photographer and tutor Sally Mayman.

Introduction to Social Media Workshop

Social Media should be fun and rewarding! Presented by Eramboo Director, Robby van Dalen, this workshop is specially designed for artists to help promote their profile and artwork. If you have just started using Social Media or find it too confusing or overwhelming, then this is for you. We will look at 3 of the most used social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and how best to utilise each of their unique characteristics and services. Rob will explain their functionality and how they can benefit artists. If you haven’t set up any Social Media, there will be time to do this, so bring your smartphone or tablet with you and make sure it’s charged because you’ll be using it! Rob is a Web Designer, Social Media Consultant and Photographer and assists his clients in those areas of business. He is also General Manager at a Software company which provides software services for the Finance Industry.

Burst Your Bubble 

Students will have the chance to blow a glass bubble (10-15 minutes). No previous experience necessary. This can be booked or on a drop in basis.

When 24 & 25 Sept 10am - 4pm in conjunction with Open Studios weekend

Come Blow Your Form

This is a simple vase blowing lesson. Students are assisted to make a simple drop vase by arranging colours on the marver; the teacher will then pick those colours up & cover with clear glass, blow the first bubble and then student will blow to size, hang and put into kiln to cool slowly. Vase can be collected the next day. This is usually done in pairs. (45- 60 minutes). No previous experience necessary. Booking recommended but drop in possible.

Weekend Glass Blowing Intensive

This 2-day workshop is the perfect beginning to discover the excitement of working with hot glass. Join us for a weekend foray of fun into the mysteries of the age-old art form of glass blowing. Conjure images of the first Syrian blowers, Greek and Roman artisans and on to Venice, the Art Nouveau movement. The workshop explores the basics of glassblowing and is aimed at beginners. Anyone who wishes to learn glassblowing at the furnace is invited to participate. No experience is required. Students will learn how to gather and marver, shape and blow glass and how to use the appropriate tools through basic exercises and practice. Use of colour will also be explored. Several short demonstrations and plenty of background information will be given. Bookings essential.

Glass Casting Intensive

This is a unique opportunity to study with Sallie Portnoy in her studio by the sea. Take home a wealth of knowledge and several new cast sculptures. Have an inspiring weekend getting the creative juices flowing. This 2-day workshop will take students on an intensive journey into the creative possibilities of kiln cast glass. The instructor will demystify the casting process by teaching how to model and form positives in clay to make simple open moulds. The use of Gel-Flex rubber will also be demonstrated. This course will cater to all levels of ability.

Presented by If u like ART and open to all budding artists aged 6 to 16, this annual competition provides the opportunity for youth to showcase their artistic talents.
