Talk & Film: 'Awakening in Taos' the story of the move and shaker, Mabel Dodge Luhan

Awakening in Taos - Mabel and the girls

Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society invites you to a special event to discover the intriguing story of Mabel Dodge Luhan, the heiress, patroness and visionary who lured Georgia O’Keeffe and other creative souls to New Mexico. Local traveler and artist Carole Douglas spends time each year at the adobe house built by Mabel and her Pueblo Indian husband Tony Luhan.  She brings you the story of this extraordinary woman from her own research and courtesy of the newly released and acclaimed film ‘Awakening in Taos’ by colleague, Mark Gordon of Santa Fe.  Enjoy corn muffins from the ‘kitchen of Mabel’ while watching this cleverly collaged work. This event coincides with the Art Gallery of NSW’s exhibition ‘O’Keeffe, Preston, Cossington Smith - Making Modern’ (July 1-October 2) that includes the largest survey of O’Keeffe’s work to visit Australia.
