Club Friday
Friday night is still the best night of the week.
Club Friday is a recreational and leisure program for intellectually disabled people aged over 18 years, who live in Manly, Pittwater and Warringah local government areas. It's a great chance to get out and have some fun, doing lots of social activities such as dinner and dancing, barbecues, bowling and other games. Other events include two day trips and a Christmas party.
Funding
Council supports a recreational program for 47 regular Friday night outings for 5 hours for 20 people, as well as two day trips per year. The program also receives Disability Services funding from the NSW Department of Human Services, Aging Disability and Home Care.
Friday Nights at Club Friday
The program is provided between 6pm and 11pm. The aim of the program is to support the socialisation and integration of people with a disability and promote opportunities that enhance social skills, learning and development and enjoyment. Clients arrive at the Seniors Centre and are transported to the venue and return to the Centre for pick up or transport home.
Staffing
The program is facilitated by Community Development Coordinators at Manly Council, and is supported by experienced staff on Friday nights, who help with client transport, support and supervision.
The staff assist Club Friday members in having an enjoyable night.
