Becoming a citizen represents a commitment to Australia.
To become an Australian Citizen start the process by contacting the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Information Line on 131 880 or online at citizenship.gov.au
Once the application has been processed, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship will notify you by letter of the date and timing of your Ceremony.

Citizenship Ceremonies are generally held at Manly Council Chambers, 1 Belgrave Street.
New Citizens are asked to arrive at 4.00pm to register. The Citizenship Ceremonies commence at 4.30pm and are conducted by the Mayor of Manly, Jean Hay AM. The ceremony lasts for approximately forty minutes.
New citizens are welcome to invite two guests to the ceremony. Please note that guests will not be seated with new citizens, and there may only be standing room available.
Manly Council does not hold details of new citizens until 3 weeks prior to a ceremony.

Ceremony Program
Singers will perform at each Citizenship Ceremony. T he Ceremony is followed by a welcome reception for new citizens and their two guests. To celebrate, a glass of champagne and canapés will be served.
An electoral form is to be completed at the Ceremony, so that the names of new citizens can be added to the Electoral Role for voting.
The presentation of a Citizenship Certificate is the final step to becoming an Australian Citizen.
