Crime Prevention Plan

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-13

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-2013 has been developed by Council in consultation with the Community Safety Committee.
 
The draft Plan was presented to Council at the Planning & Strategy Committee meeting of 7 March 2011, and following adoption (PS39/11), was subsequently placed on public exhibition until 18 April 2011.
 
No submissions were received by Council for consideration for the draft Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-2013.
 
Council adopted the Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-2013 at the Planning & Strategy meeting of 2 May 2011 (PS57/11).
 
In accordance with Part 4, Division 3, Sections 39-42 of The Children (Protection and Parental Responsibility) Act 1997 No 78, the Manly Crime Prevention Plan will now be presented to the NSW Attorney General for endorsement as a Safer Community Compact.
 
Council may be considered eligible to apply for grant funding from the NSW Justice and Attorney General’s Department to implement key strategies within the Action Plan.
 
Council is required to report six-monthly to the NSW Justice and Attorney General’s Department on implementation and success.

Background to the Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-2013

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2011-13 was developed by Manly Council in consultation with the Community Safety Committee using a range of data sources along with a situational analysis to identify one local crime priority.

The priority for the Manly Crime Prevention Plan (2011-2013) is:

    •    Assault (non-domestic violence related), specifically alcohol-related assault.

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan contains actions which focus on five key areas:

  • 1.0    Late Night Transport
  • 2.0    Educate
  • 3.0    Regulation and Enforcement
  • 4.0    Planning
  • 5.0    Engage

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan will be implemented over three years (2011-2013).

The Manly Crime Prevention Plan 2000-2004

The first Manly Crime Prevention Plan was written in 1999, approved by Council and endorsed by the Attorney General of New South Wales as a Safer Community Compact in 2000.
