Emergency Management

Emergency Management in Australia is undertaken at a Federal, State and Local level.

Council is a member of a Local Emergency Management Committee and together with Pittwater and Warringah Councils and the various combat agencies.  Together we plan for the prevention and preparation for, response to and recovery from, local emergencies.  The Committee meets four times a year to review the Local DISPLAN (Disaster Plan) and conduct emergency exercises.

The various combat agencies, eg SES, Police, Ambulance, Rural Fire Service, respond to particular categories of emergency under their own separate subplans.

These Agencies should be contacted directly in the event of an emergency in the Manly local government area.

Council only deals with emergencies relating to Council works and infrastructure, roads, drainage, Manly Lagoon and Council buildings.
