Shared Accommodation

Places of shared accommodation are inspected annually by Council’s Environmental Health Officers for compliance with the relevant provisions of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005, Public Health Act 2010 and the Building Code of Australia.

The objective of the inspection program is to ensure boarding houses and backpackers are operated and maintained in a healthy and safe condition for occupants.

Environmental Health Officers check around 28 premises in the Manly area to see that facilities are clean and in good repair, that rooms are numbered and a schedule is provided indicating the maximum length of stay permitted on the premises.

For further information please telephone Manly Council Environmental Health on (02) 9976 1511.
