Starfish Restaurant Rating Program
The Starfish Ratings program is designed to recognise, reinforce and reward food service businesses who implement the fundamentals of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene awareness.
Each business will be inspected and assessed annually by Council’s professional Environmental Health Officers and will receive a rating from 1 to 5 Starfish.
The rating will be based on the food businesses demonstrated compliance with Food Safety Standards codes, effective temperature control, an effective and adopted cleaning and sanitation schedule, effective pest control/vermin proofing and protection, demonstrated food handling knowledge and skills and demonstrated sustainability practices.
Each business will commence the inspection with 100 points and points will be deducted, based on the severity and nature of the issue, for items which do not demonstrate high standards of food safety, cleanliness/ hygiene and sustainability practices.
Starfish Rating certificates will be provided to each business shortly after their inspection. Businesses will be encouraged to prominently display this certificate.
The ratings are designed to assure residents and visitors that the premise serving their food is observing the highest possible food safety standards.
The results of the inspections below and Starfish Ratings awarded reflect the conditions of the premises at the time of the inspection.
