Heritage Grants

Home owners get a helping hand to preserve the past.

Manly council offers a Local Heritage Assistance Small Grants Program to home owners looking to carry out renovation works that add to the heritage value of buildings listed as "items of heritage significance" in the Manly Local Environmental Plan 1988.

Scope

The grant ranges in value from $250 to a maximum of $2,000, on a dollar for dollar basis. Eligible works include:-

  • Painting
  • Fencing
  • Minor repairs
  • The reinstatement of original heritage details.

Prerequisite

Works requiring development consent must have a development application approved prior to applying for a grant.

Applications Open

The annual program opens once a year on 1 April and coincides with the annual NSW National Trust Heritage Festival. The progam is advertised in the Manly Daily.

Closing Date

Applications must be received by 30th April 2012.

Assessment

Council’s Heritage Planner will assess all applications and report to Council on the recommended projects that meet the criteria. The level of funding available to each project will be decided on a merit basis.
