Australia Day

Australia Day 2012
Australia Day is always a great start to the year, and Australia Day 2012 was no exception.
Celebrations included a Citizenship Ceremony and the presentation of the Local Australia Day Awards for citizens who made an outstanding achievement and/or contribution to the local community of Manly.
Australian Author Thomas Keneally appeared and addressed the audience as Manly’s Australia Day Ambassador.

Ms. Ellie Hunt, the President of the Manly Women’s Shelter; and twenty-two-year-old Ms. Lisa Stueckradt, a tireless community volunteer and Secretary of the Manly Youth Council, have been officially named Manly Council’s 2012 ‘Citizen of the Year’ and ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ at Australia Day Celebrations.
Ms. Julie Isbill, founder of the ‘Bold and Beautiful’ voluntary ocean swim squad, was named as the inaugural ‘Manly Sportsperson of the Year’.
The awards aim to recognise outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.
Ellie Hunt researched, financially backed, tirelessly promoted, co-ordinated, managed and provided administrative and human resources for the Manly Women's Shelter.***
Lisa Stueckradt has been a member of Manly Youth Council since she was 16yrs. She is the current Youth Council Secretary and has held this position for the past two years.***
Julie Isbill has worked tirelessly in support of the ‘Bold and Beautiful’ voluntary ocean swim squad to inspire and motivate participants by ensuring the group is inclusive and accessible to all at no cost.
